photos for a news update

The C2 frames in the main erecting shop, positioned under the Asquith radial arm drill. Getting them here was a major task including turning them 180 degrees on a wagon turntable and then a further 45 degrees under the fixed hoist just visible at the top of this photo.

The C2 frames in the main erecting shop, positioned under the Asquith radial arm drill. We also had to empty and remove a storage rack for electrical equipment to get the frames in the right position. Both the track and the walkway were completely blocked so it was definitely a weekend job!
We extended the siding in the C2 shed right up to the back wall. This makes it a bit more tricky to get around the shed but allows us to fit more on the siding. Here the tender wheelsets are on the new track extension, while the loco frames (supported on a slate wagon) hang over the top of them. This allowed space for our bogie wagon (with tender frames on) to fit in the shed as well. Incidentally the slate wagon and the track are both around 150 years old!
