The second C2 stamp from Guiné-Bissau features an elaborately decorated loco hauling a train of logs, but the location is harder to identify: possibly Zhanhe or Tieli?
There’s nothing linking C2’s with the small West African country of Guiné-Bissau, except that they issued a set of stamps in 2001 featuring Chinese locomotives. Two were Forestry Railway C2s: 115 with the passenger coach is at Chaihe.
A beautiful model of a KP-4 at the Warsaw Railway Museum in Poland, around 1:20 scale. It's apparently smaller than the similar one at nearby Sochaczew.
From the 1930s to the 1950s, a 750mm gauge railway connected the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar to a coal mining region at Nalaikh. Locos and rolling stock were provided by the USSR, and included several 28-tonne locos similar to those supplied to China. This stamp issued in 1979 is part of a set featuring Mongolian locomotives, and illustrates a Hungarian-built КВ-4.
Soviet 28-tonne locos worked in many of the Eastern Bloc countries, and some can still be seen working today. This Lithuanian stamp features a Finnish-built PT-4 loco. This was one of a set of two stamps featuring narrow gauge locos issued in in 2002.
Finally, this stamp from the African republic of Togo includes one of the 28-tonne locos still at work at the Jiaying coal company’s tourist line in China (often known as Shibanxi).
This stamp is part of a sheet of four issued in 2014 and featuring preserved steam locomotives. Two Ff&WHR locos also feature: seeing these together is a foretaste of things to come with our C2. All we need now is Tornado to visit Blaenau Ffestiniog on a railtour…

David Daniels' C2 in On30 scale: a painstakingly scratchbuilt model of a Dahuichang loco, complete with a rake of the characteristic tippler wagons.
This fascinating old photo was taken at Harbin Forest Machinery Factory, and shows a model of a C2 numbered C2-0 5801. C2 Production at Harbin began in 1958 so was this a commemoration of the first loco produced? It appears to be about 1:20 scale.
The Sochaczew Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Poland has two full-size KP-4s and this beautiful model which is nearly 3 feet long. I'd estimate the scale at 1:12.
A closer look at C2-0 5801 at Harbin
This striking image was found online and probably represents a loco at Weihe Forestry Railway. Unfortunately we have failed to find a reference to the artist.
The Huanan Forestry Railway is being partly reopened as a tourist operation. This is a detail of a painting created to celebrate the start of refurbishment work. The artist is Zhang Shumei from the Jiamusi Huanan Artists Association. (from https://www.meipian.cn/th5m41b)
This wintry picture is printed in a Chinese diary from the early 1950s. The earliest dated entry in the diary is March 1954 so it was probably printed in 1953. This must be one of the earliest locos imported from Poland or Hungary, that had been built in 1952. The caption says it is at Tieli Forestry Railway, which was established in 1950 and received its first steam locos of this type in late 1952.

You can see some more of his work here: Peter Dennis Art. This crest merging Chinese and Welsh dragons is very attractive but we have never really used it. Perhaps we should!
Japanese artist Fujikura Kikutaro (藤倉 菊太郎) has made some very nice wood-cut art featuring Chinese railways. This is a view of the Jiayang Coal Railway, better known to enthusiasts as Shibanxi. You can buy a book of his art on Amazon .
